Reciprocal Health Care Agreement IOM/UK
Under the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement between the Isle of Man and the United Kingdom it would appear that there is an area that the UK does not invoice the IOM for, nor does it seem to be covered in the tourist flows part of the Reciprocal Agreement. This is in respect of medical treatment of IOM residents, who are attending for example business courses of less than six months duration that are not substantially funded by the UK government and also those working in the UK whilst classed as IOM residents.
Additionally there are no procedures in place to allow UK GPs and Hospitals to readily identify those IOM residents mentioned above receiving medical treatment and to invoice the IOM.
It should be borne in mind that After 25 years of unbroken growth, the Islands economy remains strong and in a good position to ride out the coming storm .The Manx economy is still the fastest growing economy in Europe and its GDP is comfortably above that of the UK and EU.
